ABOUT IAPWA PENANG
MISSION & HISTORY.
IAPWA Penang was registered with the Registrar of Society Malaysia on 24th October 2017 with the aim to implement and manage a humane dog population project in Penang Island via the Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) methodology. Before the establishment of our collaboration with City Council of Penang Island (MBPP), street dogs were routinely caught and killed in a cycle that failed to control the population. Since March 2018, this TNR approach has contributed to ending the systematic killings of street dogs in Penang Island.
IAPWA Penang is dedicated to creating humane and sustainable solution for street dogs through comprehensive TNR, rehabilitation and rehoming initiatives. By reducing population growth through neutering, improving animal welfare through vaccination and medical treatment, and promoting safe coexistence through community education and engagement, we aim to build lasting positive change for both animals and communities.
Our long-term vision is a future with zero strays through sustained TNR, responsible pet ownership, stronger animal welfare laws, and effective enforcement.
